Hey!

Here are some card flourish tutorials we recently made for our Virtuoso: Insiders community. Do let us know what you think of them!! Enjoy!!

The first one is here:

The Ninja Spring Grab is a sweet card flourish which allows you to pull a rushing card out of a speeding spring in a split second, originally featured in our video “INK”. It was made for our YouTube TV show “Virt TV”, which is currently put on hold due to the WLD 2009 Event.

Here’s the second one:

Whilst clearly not as visual, large or as powerful as the Anaconda, the spring is still one of the coolest card flourishes ever created.

This Virtuoso card flourish tutorial outlines every detail needed to perform the Spring; the exact grip, the pressure required to spring the cards, the grip needed to receive the cards, the sound to listen out for, the method to make it longer whilst keeping it clean, and lots of other nuances that will help you master it.

So, whether or not you’ve learnt the “spring” card flourish before, take a look at our take on this one, cause you just might pick up something new. ;)

Here’s a tutorial from us on 5 essential tips to perform the Tornado.

As we aren’t the creators of the Tornado, this is not a tutorial on how to do the move itself, but our handling of it that showcases the little details that maximize the visual quality of the card flourish.

This card flourish tutorial is for the guys who already know the Tornado, and want to delve deeper into the finer details of this modern classic created by Ashford Kneitel.

Hint: As the previously-published DVD of the move is no longer on the market, there is currently no publication readily available that actually teaches the Tornado in full detail, so for the guys who really want to learn it and haven’t before… this is as close as it gets. ;)

Enjoy!

NOTE:

This video is only the performance of “Flicker” one card twirl.

If you’d like access to this full tutorial for free, go now to TheVirts.com and sign up there. You’ll be sent a link to the tutorial as well as the password for this tutorial right after. ;)

We have not included the tutorial here as we’ve promised the Insiders in our Virtuoso community that it will remain “Insiders-only”.

From the Virt: Insiders area:

“When Flicker and Firefly was released in our 2007 video “Style”, it started a whole trend of one and two card flourishes and variations of what was in that video.

That trend has since developed into an entire genre of its own, and now more than ever, we are receiving countless emails from people requesting to learn our original work on the subject.

After much discussion, we decided to head to the studio to create a card flourish tutorial detailing both the technical aspect of the card flourish, as well as the stylistic and dynamic aspect of performing the card flourish.

Flicker is definitely one of our most treasured and favorite card flourishes because of how beautiful it looks and how versatile it is in its application… so learn it well, play with it, and continue developing your own ideas for this card flourish of ours.”

Enjoy these free card flourish tutorials. =) Hopefully they’ll give you a better idea of how we teach.

Do let us know what you think of them and if you have any questions at all! We’ll answer them as soon as we can!

I haven’t checked recently, but last I knew (last year sometime), you could contact Lonnie Dilan to purchase Ashford Knietel’s Tornado Cut DVD which explains the move extremely in depth.

Nice job inventing and teaching the ninja spring grab! I still need a few more hours of practise to perfect it.
So where can I learn the flicker? Meaning the tutorial and not the performance.
Thanks once more for teaching the “ninja reflex”.
    Keep up the good work!

Always liked all that fancy stuff. I never even remotely though I could do any of it. Learning to do the spring without dropping cards. Thanks a lot ,nuff respect. I never liked cards because I couldn’t flourish thanks to you I am on my way. Keep sharing.

  10. Rich says:

Nice – really nice. I really never could get a “clean” spring, and come to find out I was letting the cards control my rate, and holding too far on the side rather than corner. Thanks.
Would like to know – what is your personal preference for “brand” and “type/series” of cards to use for your work?
    USPCC/Bicycle/Bee, KEM, Copag, Modiano, custom?
    Plastic, or plastic coated paper?
Do you ever use the more narrow “bridge” size, or always the 2.5″ wide “poker” size?
